Tarazona

Zaragoza

Tarazona is the fourth city in the Zaragoza region. It is situated at the foot of the Moncayo mountain and at a crossroads of Aragón, Navarre, Castilla y Leon and La Rioja.

Tarazona is an episcopal and Mudejar city. Its cathedral is one of the most unusual of the nine in Aragón, since added to the original Gothic structure are Mudejar towers and a dome base, as well as a Renaissance façade. Some distance from the cathedral are the Episcopal Palace and the church of La Magdalena. Tarazona also has a polygonal bullring from the 18th century formed by houses which are still lived in today. The services and restaurants of Tarazona are highly recommended. As in the rest of the Zaragoza region, traditional cuisine is characterized by the use of ingredients without elaborate preparation, resulting in sober but tasty dishes. Sophistication has been subsequently added to produce a more current cuisine, based on tradition, but with more imagination. It is worth highlighting the festival of San Atilano on 27 of August, where a character known as “Cipotegato” is pelted with tomatoes. Also well-established is its international photography course, and it has a famous and ancient School of Translators.
