For example, Tenerife has a World Heritage City, San Cristóbal de La Laguna. On the island of Lanzarote, the work of artist César Manrique blends with the natural environment. Many of the towns on the islands preserve the traditional Canarian architecture and in winter, famous Carnival festivities are held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
