Pure white fashions and hippie style
Have you heard of the Ibiza style? Famous around the world, it’s based on cool natural fibres and light, very comfortable garments. White is the dominant colour in these designs that feel as good as they look. The style can be found everywhere on the Balearic Islands, but Menorca is also known for its artisanal sandals. The most iconic ones are even called “menorquinas”. There are workshops making and selling them all over the island. Hours in the sun in paradise coves
It’s no exaggeration. Beaches of silky white sand, sheltered by green pine woods, with turquoise water so clear you can see the seabed. Best of all, there are many coves like this on Menorca: Macarella, Macarelleta, Mitjana, Turqueta, Son Bou, Binidalí, Es Talaier… All on the southern end of the island. In the northern part the sand is darker, the sea is a deeper colour, and there are longer beaches like Cavalleria and Sa Mesquida.

Sharing sunsets in magical places
It’s one of those moments you’ll always remember with a smile, especially if you experience it with your favourite person: a sunset overlooking the Mediterranean. Of course, on Menorca a sunset is spectacular anywhere there’s a sea view, but we recommend it from the deck of a boat, or from four special lighthouses. In the south, the ones close to Ciutadella, on Cap d’Artrutx and Punta Nati; on a clear day you can see the neighbouring island of Mallorca. And in the north, you must see Favaritx, set among black rocks in a very different setting to the rest of the island, and Cavalleria, the oldest lighthouse on Menorca.

Have you ever ridden a horse? On Menorca you can discover how free it makes you feel. The Camí de Cavalls trail runs around the coast of the island and is perfect for riding. But there are also plenty of companies organising short rides for beginners, next to the sea or in the woods. Have you ever paddled a kayak on crystal clear waters? On Menorca it’s almost an essential experience. How about diving? The seabed around the island has a wealth of plants and wildlife to enjoy. Would you prefer something quieter? Grab a canvas and try your hand at painting outdoors. On Menorca you’ll find many artists and beginners finding their muse in the open air, paintbrush in hand.

A toast to happiness with good wine and cheese
On holiday, together and on Menorca… any time is good for a toast. If you want to try a local wine, toast with a Vi de la Terra Illa de Menorca. The wineries also organise tours, tastings and workshops. And to accompany the wine, did you know Menorca makes one of Spain’s best-known cheeses? Mahón is a strong-flavoured artisanal cheese. Some of the farms and dairies can also be visited.

Delicious, locally sourced food
Lunch by the sea in a marina surrounded by yachts, alternating with meals on traditional Menorcan country houses, or sauntering out for tapas at the popular Claustro del Carmen market in Mahón, for example… There are as many options to choose from as there are dishes to try: the essential langoustine caldereta, perol menorquín (roast vegetables with fresh fish or meat), partridge with cabbage, oliaigua (a warm soup with vegetables, toast and olive oil), roast lamb, baked ray… After your meal, we recommend trying one of Menorca’s herb liqueurs.

Party nights and peaceful times
It might seem a contradiction, but Menorca combines vibrant nightlife in bars and mega-discos with the dreamy tranquillity of walks by the sea. You can hear music in large outdoor areas, especially in summer, and there are some very famous clubs on the island (one in particular is unique because it takes place in a cave opening onto the sea). But you can go from a wild party to a quiet stroll in just a few minutes in places like Ciutadella and Mahón. If you want to try a local cocktail, you might be interested to know the island’s own gin is very popular.
