Gastronomy will be in the spotlight once again in 2025
From 1 July, Zaragoza will be the Ibero-American Capital of Sustainable Gastronomy. Another good reason to visit the Region of Valencia is that Alicante will be the Spanish Capital of Gastronomy in 2025, meaning it will host special events throughout the year.On the topic of gastronomy, Donostia-San Sebastián sets the benchmark. Destinations recommended in international rankings
Spain is never missing from the 'Best in Travel' recommendations published each year by the famous travel guide Lonely Planet. This time, the Australian publisher has focused on two Spanish locations that are ideal for nature lovers. In the chapter on “ten most underrated national parks” in the world is the jewel in the crown of the province of Huesca, Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park. Its peaks and valleys are also a Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site and the National Park is home to some of the best landscapes in the Pyrenees as well as boasting perhaps the most quintessential hiking route in the country: The one that connects the Ordesa Meadow and the Cola de Caballo waterfall. The other natural destination that “Best in Travel” suggests travelling to, particularly in winter, is in Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, also topped by a mountain range: the Sierra de Tramontana. Its slopes are home toalmond groves, which are the stars during a spectacular spring that comes early in January and February, as they tinge the magnificent landscapes white and pink during flowering season. Lonely Planet places this phenomenon amongst its top 10 “tree adventures”.While you are in Mallorca, take a trip to Palma, the capital of the archipelago, which is also included in the guide's top 10 attractive cities. Allow yourself to be fascinated by monuments such as the Gothic cathedral, its beautiful Bellver Castle, its palaces, beaches and coves, its traditional yet modernised Mercat de l'Olivar or Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró a Mallorca, which pays homage to the work of Spain's most globally renowned artists of the 20th century.

Home to the famous Benedictine abbey, it is a religious symbol of Catalonia and is celebrating its 1000-year birthday in 2025. Throughout the year commemorative eventswill take place there, from special concerts to exhibitions and a striking videomapping inside the basilica. The Roman aqueduct in Segovia was constructed two thousand years ago, one of the best preserved of its kind dating back to the ancient empire. This Castilian city is worth a visit on account of its many monuments, including its cathedral, which turns 500 in 2025. The cathedral has organised a varied programme to commemorate the occasion, with special guided tours and the installation of a giant moon measuring seven metres across in February and March.Among the wide cultural offering always available in Madrid, until July 20, 2025 there is a unique event waiting for you: The exhibition 'Masaveu Collection.
