This archipelago is home to a great diversity of landscapes, from paradise-like beaches to long stretches of land where volcanoes reign supreme. Even so, not only are the viewpoints worthwhile, but the entire path to reaching these points is also a marvel – without a doubt, you'll enjoy getting there as much or more than the views themselves. Here are some of the routes you can't miss so you can prepare for your trip.
-
Roque Nublo viewpoint, Gran Canaria
One of the most emblematic points of this island, Roque Nublo – a must-see if you visit the island of Gran Canaria. In the very heart of the island, you will walk for about three hours through a natural space designated as a rural park. As you ascend, you will first cross a thick Canary Island pine forest until you reach the summit, where the vegetation disappears, giving way to a rocky area. From the height, you can enjoy incredible views, and you can even spot Mount Teide itself, all the way on the island of Tenerife.
-
Mirador de Chipeque, Tenerife
From this viewpoint you can see one of the most beautiful scenes in the entire Canary archipelago, a beautiful sea of clouds. This viewpoint has such a high elevation that you will be above the clouds. Beneath your feet, a soft, white blanket will extend to infinity. To get here, you need to travel along the Esperanza Highway, a narrow paved road surrounded by nature, where you will find several viewpoints. From here, you can also see Mount Teide in the distance, which at sunset looks like something straight from a postcard.
-
Los Roques viewpoint, La Gomera
Los Roques are one of the most characteristic rock formations of the Canary Islands, and here, in La Gomera, you can find five of them. They seem to watch over one of the most beautiful places on the island, Garajonay National Park. To get here, you will have to drive along a road through dense forests. During the ascent, at an altitude of 1,115 metres, you will reach height of Los Roques so that you can enjoy both the stones themselves and the green colour that bathes the entire area.
-
Roque de los Muchachos viewpoint, La Palma
This may be the most famous viewpoint in La Palma. It is located at the very top of the island, at more than 2,400 metres high, and you can easily get there by car. From up here, you will enjoy the views of Caldera de Taburiente National Park, which you can pass through in order to get here. You will enjoy yourself at any time of day, since when night falls, the stars light up the sky in an almost magical way. You can see them perfectly from right here. That's why Roque de los Muchachos is home to one of the two astrophysical observatories in the Canary Islands. You have never seen so many stars.

Viewpoint of Orchilla Lighthouse in El Hierro
This lighthouse is known as the lighthouse at the end of the world since Punta Orchilla marks the westernmost point in all of Europe. It was also where Ptolemy placed the origin of world cartography, positioning the zero meridian. To reach the viewpoint, you will have to travel a narrow road that runs between mountains and volcanic cliffs, offering you views that will be hard to forget.
These are just some of the viewpoints that you can enjoy in the Canary Islands, places with incredible views, where getting there is part of the experience. Venture to take a look?
