Alicante is in south-east Spain, in the Community of Valencia The province is identified with the Costa Blanca tourism brand. It has a typical Mediterranean landscape where beaches alternate with mountainous areas.
Ten festivals in the region are officially Fiestas of International Tourist Interest: in Alicante, the Bonfires of San Juan; in Torrevieja, the International Habaneras and Polyphony Music Contest; the Moors and Christians Festivals in Villajoyosa, Alcoy and Crevillente; Holy Week in Crevillente and Orihuela; the Cocentaina All Saints Fair; and the Mystery Play and the Palm Sunday Procession in Elche. Elche is also famous for its Palmeral (Palm Grove), a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
