Serranos Towers

It is a gate in the late medieval wall. It was built by the master stonemason Pere Balaguer in the 14th century to defend one of the main entrances to old Valencia. It is made up of two polygonal towers that flank the door, which consists of a semicircular voussoir arch. The interior façade has large arched openings, designed as galleries. In the 16th century it was converted into a prison for nobles and knights, remaining in use until 1887.
