Terraces in the Santa Cruz quarter, Seville

Santa Cruz quarter

Sevilla

Smell of orange blossom.

The Santa Cruz quarter runs through the artistic old town of Seville.

Walking around the streets you can see 12th century constructions including the Real Alcázar, and such iconic buildings as the Cathedral, the General Archive of the Indies, the Los Venerables Hospital and the Town Hall. The little alleyways that run through the quarter like rivers lead to the churches of El Sagrario and Santa Cruz as well as the Chapel of Santa María de Jesús. The two convents of San José del Carmen and La Encarnación can also be visited in this area. All of this, together with the typically colourful tiles and the smell of saffron in the streets, makes this an essential walk for all visitors in Seville.
