Plaza de Cataluña square

Plaza de Cataluña is a square in the heart of Barcelona and one of its main meeting points. It is one of the largest squares in Spain, about five hectares long.

It is one of the pillars of Barcelona's street life and important streets like Las Ramblas, Paseo de Gracia or Ronda de Sant Pere are connected to it. It is a huge space that hosts shows, exhibitions and also trade fairs or popular gatherings throughout the year. It is also one of the main commercial areas of Barcelona and is a hub for multiple means of transport.The square has a huge central space surrounded by garden and tree-lined areas. Inside, visitors will find two twin fountains separated by a terrace and various sculptures by important artists, mainly of Catalan origin. Some of the statues include the work of Josep Clarà, Pablo Gargallo, Josep Llimona or Enric Casanovas.
