Goya's pantheon
It is located at the foot of the presbytery in the chapel of San Antonio de la Florida. The painter's tomb is made of granite and is covered with a limestone slab which marked his burial place in the cemetery in Bordeaux, where he died in 1828. His remains were later brought to Spain, and in 1919 he was buried in this chapel, chosen as the ideal site for his tomb. Indeed, the church was painted by Goya himself. Of particular interest are the fresco paintings in the dome, depicting "The Miracle of St. Anthony", as well as the angels on the pendentives of the church.
