Palace of the General Military Headquarters
A Coruña
The Palace of the General Military Headquarters in A Coruña stands in Plaza de la Constitución square. The original construction dates from the 16th century, although in 1748 a new building was raised for the military commander and for the different court premises. Throughout history it has witnessed events such as the first Galician uprising against the Napoleonic troops in 1808, and the liberal uprising of 1820, which saw the storming of the palace and the arrest of the commander and his incarceration in San Antón castle.
