Museo

National Engraving Centre

Madrid

The aim of the centre is to conserve and promote graphic art.

The National Engraving Centre was created in 1789 to undertake major engraving projects in the field of political illustration. This institution was also responsible for collecting, conserving and printing all new copper plates engraved by royal commission. Located in the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Art, the National Engraving Centre's most important treasures are the copper plates etched by Francisco de Goya, masterpieces in the universal history of engraving. Here you can see one of the world's largest and finest collections of engraved plates.
