Zaragoza Museum

Zaragoza

The history of the province

It has an important collection of pieces from different artistic periods.

The former pavilion of the 1908 World's Fair is the main headquarters of this museum, which is divided into two large sections: Archaeology and Fine Art. The first one presents objects from prehistory to the Muslim era. It is worth checking out some of the bronze plaques with Iberian and Latin inscriptions, a head of Augustus from Tarazona, and architectural remains from Aljafería Palace. The Fine Arts section exhibits works ranging from the 12th century to the contemporary era, in particular, the collection of Gothic paintings and numerous canvases by Francisco de Goya. The museum has three more sections. Two of them are found in Parque Grande J.A. Labordeta park in Zaragoza: the Casa de Albarracín exhibits Ceramics and Casa Pirenaica is dedicated to the world of Ethnology. The third one is Colonia Celsa Museum, in Velilla del Ebro, approximately 60 km away from the city. It is dedicated to the nearby Roman site of the same name.MAIN BUILDING CLOSED UNTIL THE END OF 2024.
