Cathedral Treasure-Museum (Toledo)

Toledo

Located in the Toledo Cathedral, several spaces stand out, such as the Treasury-Reliquary, Chapter House, Sacristy, Choir and Main Chapel. The monstrance made by Enrique de Arfe in the 16th century is exhibited in the treasury chapel. In the Sacristy there are an Apostolate and “The Plundering” by El Greco, as well as paintings by Goya, Titian, Raphael, Van Dyck, Bellini and a Saint Francis of Assisi carved by Pedro de Mena. In the room that leads to the dressing room there is another excellent collection of paintings, with works by Velázquez and Ribera. Meanwhile, the Chapter House contains frescoes by Juan de Borgoña and portraits of all the prelates of the Archdiocese. The main altar displays its extraordinary altarpiece, to which Enrique Egas, Felipe Vigarny, Copín de Holanda and Juan de Borgoña, among others, contributed. Finally, the Choir includes a wide range of works by sculptors such as Berruguete, Vigarny and Rodrigo Alemán.
