The making of a book

Since its creation in 1986, the exhibition has been expanded by incorporating private collections.

The first book to be printed in Spain (a Marian devotional book from 1474) was produced in Valencia. This museum was created as a tribute to this event and is housed in the Royal Monastery of El Puig de Santa María. It is home to various valuable facsimile editions, as well as wooden presses, type moulds, printers' marks, hand-engraved reliefs and printing equipment dating back to Gutenberg's time, including a replica of his famous and pioneering printing press.
