Art spanning all eras
The painting collection stands out, with canvases by great masters of art history.
The museum houses works of art collected by José Lázaro Galdiano, an enthusiastic collector. The collection consists of more than 12,600 items of artwork, sculpture, silverware, jewellery, enamels, ivory, textiles, and weapons, dating from the 4th century BC to the early 20th century. The different European schools are represented in the gallery, with works by Hieronymus Bosch, Cranach, Reynolds, Constable, among others, although the main focus is on Spanish artists, including Gothic and Renaissance paintings, in addition to works by El Greco, Ribera, Zurbarán, Velázquez, Murillo, Carreño, and an important collection of works by Goya.
