History Museum (Madrid)
It features important collections showing the historical and urban development of Madrid.
The museum is located on Calle Fuencarral, in the former Hospice for the Poor of San Fernando, an 18th-century building distinctive for its façade, a paradigm of Castilian Baroque style. Inside is Goya's superb painting “Allegory of the City of Madrid”. The collections of Madrid's artistic industries are also very interesting, especially the porcelain from the Real Fábrica del Buen Retiro. You can also visit exhibits of paintings, prints, cartography, models, drawings, photographs, postcards, sculptures, goldsmith works, fans, furniture, weapons, coins and medals.
