A portrait of the island throughout time, in two locations.
The centre's exhibitions and programme of activities aim to help visitors understand the present as something completely linked to history and tradition. With this in mind, the Museum of History and Anthropology of Tenerife (MHA) brings together both sciences spanning two venues, which aim to offer, as part of their holdings and collections, a broader and richer vision of the history and culture of the island of Tenerife. One of the venues is in San Cristóbal de La Laguna and provides an overview of the institutional, social, economic and cultural development of Tenerife between the 15th and 20th centuries. The other venue is Casa de Carta (in Valle de Guerra, about 15 kilometres from San Cristóbal de La Laguna), considered a significant example of a manor house built in the Canary Islands in the 18th century and which offers, through a tour of its rooms, the possibility of appreciating traditional clothing, a sample of popular furniture, traditional ceramics and basketry, musical instruments used in popular parrandas and an important variety of gofio mills.
