It is located inside the building of the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain. The museum's objectives are to disseminate the richness and diversity of the geological and mining heritage. To this end, it consists of a collection of minerals, rocks and fossils of nearly 25,000 samples (about 6,000 of which are on display), which come from all Spanish regions and other parts of the world. Many of these samples come from work carried out by important personalities in the fields of geology and mining.
