Maritime Museum Itsasmuseum Bilbao

The exhibition space spans both the interior of the museum and the exterior, where the dock area is located.

The collection of the Bilbao Maritime Museum displays objects and elements relating to the maritime activity of the Bilbao Estuary and the Port, as well as maritime culture in general. The pieces on display include vessels belonging to Bilbao shipping companies, the models of ships built in the city's most emblematic shipyards, such as the Nervión or Euskalduna; watercolours by Esteban Bermejo or the maritime rescue system aerial tramway, provided by the Sea of Arriluze Red Cross Centre.It is also home to the famous gabarra, a harbour work boat, which visitors can view. The legendary local football team, Athletic, celebrates its important titles by taking to the Nervión estuary on this boat.
