Juan Carlos I Park

Madrid

This park was built between 1990 and 1992, aiming to become an emblematic site in the city of Madrid, which had been named European Cultural Capital in 1992. The park also has leisure, cultural and recreational areas. It is a suburban park with unique features, designed for the future. It is set on the “Olivar de la Hinojosa" estate, which gave its name to the project at first, although it was definitively renamed Juan Carlos I Park. It covers 160 hectares, with 13 kilometres of paths and 133,000 square metres of water features. Its large expanses of grass, ground cover on slopes and small woods, using autochthonous plant species, provide visual and environmental quality.
