San Carlos Hospital in Aranjuez

Madrid

Charles III ordered the hospital to be built under the control of Manuel Serrano in the 18th century and it was extended during the reign of Isabel II. It served as hospital for employees of the royal family and residents of Aranjuez Palace. It is built around two courtyards. The main entrance stands out for its brick façade, with curved, triangular gables, that come together in a triangular pediment set within a round arch. It is currently home to some local government offices and the Aranjuez Historical Archive.
