A symbol of Bilbao
This avant-garde building designed by Canadian-born Frank O. Gehry is a magnificent place to display masterpieces of modern and contemporary art.
Since it opened in 1997, the Guggenheim Bilbao and the floral sculpture by Jeff Koons known as “Puppy”, located outside the building have become the most internationally recognised symbols of Bilbao. They form part of the museum's collection of works by leading figures in the artistic world: David Salle, Chillida, Jeff Koons, Louis Bourgeois and Robert Rauschenberg, to name but a few. The Guggenheim also offers a series of activities for anyone who wants to expand their artistic knowledge.
