Escalona Fortress

The castle-palace of Don Álvaro de Luna is a large fortified palace with a church inside.

It was built in the 15th century, with Mudejar layouts, on the site of an old Medieval fortress. It is surrounded by a battlemented wall with large towers. The interior houses a parade ground and the square plan palace. The courtyard is shaped like the cloister from which only some pillars and the Gothic staircase remain. Of special note is the coloured stucco Mudejar decoration, which is still preserved and belonged to the so-called Rich Room. There was also a garden.
