Santísimo Sacramento Collegiate Church
From Gothic to Renaissance.
It was built on the site of an old mosque. The tower replaced an old minaret.
It was built in the 16th century. It is not known with certainty who created it, although everything points to the fact that Antón Egas and Alonso de Covarrubias collaborated in the design. The church has 3 naves: the central one is higher. It has a choir with stalls and an anonymous reredos from the Correa de Vivar school. The sacristy and the chapel of San Gil (patron saint of Torrijos) are worth pointing out. Outside, it is clear that this church is an example of the transition from Gothic to Renaissance. The flying buttresses and the gargoyles on its 2 fronts as well as the colour of the building itself are outstanding features.
