San Pedro y San Ildefonso Church

This was the city's greatest and largest church after the cathedral. Built in the 11th century on the remains of the old Santa Leocadia Church, the building brings together various architectural styles on account of successive extensions and refurbishments.

This church originally had three naves, but at the end of the 15th century it was extended and changed, leaving just one nave crowned by an elongated ogive vault. At the beginning of the 18th century, Joaquín Churriguera made alterations to the tower and built the West entrance. Another treasure is to be found in the sacristy: a magnificent 16th century Flemish triptych, a gift from king Charles I on a visit he made to Zamora in 1522.
