Very close to the banks of the Carrión river, this temple is a clear example of the transition between Romanesque and Gothic styles.
Its most outstanding element is located on the main façade: the 70-metre tall openwork tower that evokes defensive or military uses. The main doorway has six archivolts. The church, with three naves covered by cross vaults, stands on the remains of a building from the beginning of the 11th century. And on 1 January, the Church of San Miguel is the stage of the festival of Christening of the Child, one of the most interesting and special traditions of the city of Palencia.
