Church of San Miguel (Estella-Lizarra)
A sample of the best Navarrese Romanesque.
It is built in the Romanesque and Gothic styles, with the transition from one to the other clearly visible in its interior.
It is a simple church. The north doorway, of great ornamental richness, is Romanesque in style and is considered to be one of the best in Navarre. Its most interesting features are the reliefs on the sides of the doorway, depicting scenes of the Resurrection and the struggle of the Archangel Michael. Inside, there is a Gothic altarpiece painted on stucco. It is the burial place of the Marquesses of Muruzábal and Eguía. The sculptures in the altarpieces include a 17th-century Saint Crispin.
