Cuenca
From the Plaza Mayor square there are three accesses to the Bajada de San Miguel, a large staircase over the Júcar river which leads to the church of the same name. This magnificent building dates from the late 13th century, and the original apse still survives from that time. The rest of the church was remodelled in the 18th century and restored in the 20th century. It has a magnificent Renaissance façade and is often used as a venue for concerts and other cultural events.
