Church of San Francisco (Lugo)

Home to the Archaeology and Popular and Fine Arts sections of Lugo Museum.

It is currently one of the locations of Lugo Provincial Museum. It is believed that the convent was founded by Saint Francis when he was on his way to Santiago. The church, currently named San Pedro, was built in the Gothic style in the 15th century. It is laid out as a Latin cross and has three pointed arches. Beside it stands the bell tower. What remains of the convent is the square cloister, surrounded by semicircular arches on double columns, decorated with plant motifs. The cloister walls are decorated with inscriptions, mosaics, etc. The kitchen has also been conserved intact, decorated with the typical utensils of traditional village kitchens in Galicia, such as jugs, coal fire grills, lanterns, etc.
