Church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación
Dominating the town centre of Olvera, the Archpriestal Church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación is a unique example in Cadiz mountains because of its shape and size.
Built on a previous Gothic-Mudejar church, which preserves its apse, this church is one of the two symbols of the town of Olvera, together with the old Moorish castle. The adjoining viewpoint offers an exceptional view of the church. It is a Neoclassical church, made up of three naves, the central one being the largest, which coincide with each one of the three sections of the sanctuary. At its foot it has a monumental three-part façade that rises up to a fourth part - with their respective octagonal shrines with arches, crowned by modest lanterns - with twin towers that flank the doorway. Inside, with barrel vaults and a dome on a lantern in the transept, the use of magnificent Italian marble stands out on the altars and columns.
