Mars temple ruins
This chapel has remains of the Roman temple dedicated to the God Mars.
It was built in the 17th century and the remains from the temple of Mars were added to the main front. It comprises of two marble columns, two capitals and floral motif reliefs and medallions with the head of Medusa. It also has images depicting wars and two inscriptions on the frieze, one from the Roman era and another subsequent to this period that suggests that the chapel is dedicated to Santa Eulalia the patron saint of Mérida and not to the God Mars.
