Pozalagua Cave
Karrantza Harana-Valle de Carranza
Exceptional rock formations
Deep inside the Carranza Valley there is an underground world where highly valuable natural caves such as the Pozalagua Cave have been formed.
It is located in the Armañón Nature Reserve. The entrance is 500 metres above sea level, and it basically consists of a large chamber with a 17-metre-high ceiling. The cave was discovered by chance on 28 December 1957 after blasting in a nearby quarry. Today the quarry is closed and has been transformed into a spectacular amphitheatre. There is a guided tour available along a route of 400 metres, where visitors can see truly exceptional helictites with different thickness and lengths. The constant dripping of water adds background music to this visit. It is adapted for the disabled, by means of a platform.
