America and the Canary Islands
This centre is located in the former House of Governors, a building that is more than five centuries old.
Casa de Colón is dedicated to the study, research and dissemination of the history of the Canary Islands and the region's relations with America. The museum is divided into five thematic areas. One of them displays different information panels about the first American settlers, the cultures and peoples of pre-Columbian America. The section “Columbus and his voyages” recreates the discoverer's expeditions, while another section delves into Columbus's travels through the Canary Islands and another into the history and genesis of the city of Las Palmas. In addition, Casa de Colón exhibits a set of paintings from the 16th to the 19th centuries.
