Madrid
The garden is located between the river Manzanares and the Royal Palace. It possibly owes its name to having been the camping site of the Muslim armies that besieged Madrid between the years 1100 and 1200. It has been the scene of hunts, jousts and tournaments, and also a place of passage towards the Casa de Campo. The Campo del Moro was not completed at the same time as the New Palace or current Royal Palace of Madrid. The garden did not exist until the end of the 19th century.
