"El Bosque", close to the town of Béjar, is a notorious example of the move from medieval castle-fortress towards Renaissance recreational villa. Even if the passage of the centuries has left it deteriorated, and affected by the gradual succession of styles of gardening and ownership, the original structure remains in terraces communicated by staircases, along with unique ornamental elements, such as the large pond with its islet in the centre and the Sábana fountain. Its privileged situation in the foothills of the mountains makes an autumn visit ideal to admire the colours of chestnut, hazelnut and walnut trees.
