Triumphal arch.
It is a triumphal arch. It commemorates military or political deeds. It is located on the ancient Via Augusta that led to Rome. It has a single opening that is 12.3 metres tall. On the plinth there are four Corinthian pilasters with Corinthian-style grooves that support the entablature, on which the name of the builder is inscribed. It was commissioned by Lucius Licinius Sura, Trajan's general.It is part of the monumental ensemble of Tarraco, which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
