Empúries, one of Spain's most important archaeological sites, was a meeting point for different civilizations. The city was founded by the Greeks in the 6th century BC. It was later reformed and enriched by the Romans. The complex disappeared in the 3rd century AD with the invasion of the Franks. At the archaeological site, visitors can find small houses with white marble mosaic floors, Roman cisterns, the foundations of the porticoed square, and the sacred area of the temples of Asclepius and Zeus Separis. The excavations carried out so far have brought to light numerous pieces, including bronzes, ceramics and Greek sculptures.
