Ceuta
Heritage of the Roman baths.
These steam or “hamman” baths, as they were known in that era (12th and 13th centuries), were not only used for reasons of hygiene, their use was also a religious purification or social and leisure ritual. They are made up of several parts: the Courtyard, which was the area of access to the various enclosures; the Cold Room, the Warm Room, the Hot Room, the most complex of all as it permitted hot air to enter in order to raise its temperature; and the Service Area, composed of the oven, boiler and woodshed.
