What are the wines like?
In 1980, the Rueda D.O. became the first Designation of Origin in Castile and Leon, and since then its white wines have become internationally famous. The wines produced have traditionally been young wines, characterised by their distinctive greenish-yellow colour and their fresh, fruity and elegant aromas and palate. In recent years, some wineries have turned to barrel fermentation and sparkling wines. You can also find white wines made with other varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Viura or Palomino Fino; you will also encounter red and rosé wines.
