What are the wines like?

Cigales Designation of Origin (D.O.) includes quality rosé and red wines that have won awards in numerous Spanish and international competitions. The tempranillo variety is predominant in old vineyards planted on very typical pebble soils. The new varieties of sauvignon blanc, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and syrah are being cultivated to complement the main varieties: tempranillo, garnacha, albillo and verdejo. The rosés from Cigales are more modern, aromatic and appetising wines. Since 2011, white, sparkling and sweet wines have also been produced in the area.
