Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche Nature Reserve
Mediterranean forest
The Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche Nature Reserve is located in the north of the province of Huelva, in the western part of the Sierra Morena.
The Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche Nature Reserve is an excellent example of Mediterranean vegetation; it is home to cork oaks, gall oaks, and, in some areas, chestnut trees which form forests in the more humid areas. The flora also comprises pine trees and eucalyptus plantations. The fauna includes species such as the Iberian lynx, the black vulture, the black stork and the griffon vulture. The wooded pastures in this nature reserve serve as grazing areas for the famous ibérico pigs.
