Cumbre Vieja Nature Reserve

The Cumbre Vieja Nature Reserve features a unique landscape resulting from the latest volcanic eruptions.
Volcanic cones abound in this natural space, due to the intense eruptive activity in the last million years. An activity that has returned quite recently after the eruption in September 2021 that continued for nearly three months, spreading new lava over parts of the island and reserve, and even giving rise to a new volcano, Tajogaite (northwestern edge of this natural space), with its summit now 200 metres above the previous ground level). This Tajogaite can be visited on organised hiking trails of several kilometres.Elsewhere in the park, interesting fauna species can be found in the laurel forest sector, in the foothills of Cumbre Nueva. These include laurel pigeons. The famous Volcano Route also passes through here.
