Baixa Limia-Serra do Xurés Natural Park

Between two climates
The climatic diversity of the Baixa Limia-Serra do Xurés Nature Reserve creates two climates and, consequently, two distinct environments.
What attracts visitors to the park the most is the many different landscapes of the Gerês-Xurés cross-border Biosphere Reserve (between Spain and Portugal). In terms of vegetation, this area is located between two major European flora regions: Eurosiberian and Mediterranean. Therefore, the vegetation alternates between deciduous forests, characteristic of humid climate zones and evergreen forests. The local inhabitants make good use of the land through pastures and forage crops, alternating them with rye fallows.
