Cherry trees take centre stage
Eleven villages welcome you to the Valley, north of Cáceres, which we recommend you travel to by car. There are two options for road trips – one circular and the other linear – which will be your guides as you gradually discover the cherry blossom. This natural explosion, which lasts about ten days from mid-March until early April, is the reason for a key date in the local calendar: the Cherry Blossom Festival, which unites culture, music, gastronomy and exhibitions around the tree. But there are also all types of activities organised between March and early May.It is not just the flowers that attract visitors to the valley in this corner of Cáceres. We also recommend that you come in May, when the fruit picking starts. From here until the middle of August, the so-called Cerecera is held: a period full of cherry-related activities like tasting and routes through the countryside. Don't leave Jerte without taking some Designation of Origin cherries, or trying some local specialities like the shepherds' dishes migas or lamb stew.
