Salvador Dalí and Port d'Alguer beach (Catalonia)

Salvador Dalí was a Spanish painter, sculptor, engraver, set designer and writer of the twentieth century. For many, the greatest exponent of modern art, with a very surreal character and work.At just nineteen years old, Salvador Dalí tried to capture the natural beauty of the town of Cadaqués, an idyllic place full of memories for the artist, as it was the favorite summer resort for his family.

Salvador Dalí's house in Port Lligat, Cadaqués

Cadaqués is a small fishing town in the province of Girona, Catalonia. Upon arrival you will walk between white houses, perfectly aligned to the coast, and you will see how a line of small boats moves to and fro in the Mediterranean Sea. It is not surprising, then, that in 1923, Dalí decided to paint the beach of Port d'Alguer, giving his work the same name as its title. An emblematic and central beach, near the church of Santa María. And although it is not the most extensive, it is one of the most beautiful. 65 metres of coarse sand, dark colours and smooth pebbles that gradually blend into the shore and become part of it. A very special environment, with calm, crystalline waters that will make you dream.

Joaquín Sorolla and the beaches of Valencia (Valencian Community)

“The bathing hour” (1909) or “Sea idyll” (1908) are two of Joaquín Sorolla's paintings on canvas, the renowned Spanish painter with more than 2,200 classified paintings, which managed to reflect different daily situations on the beaches of Valencia. Through his luminist and impressionist technique he showed what the reflections of the water are like, the soft waves of the shore and the fine white sand of the beaches. Above all, he taught that they are a quiet and perfect environment to spend the day with the family. If you have already planned to visit capital of Valencia, you will be surprised by its beaches. Delve into Malvarrosa beach; to the north of the city's port and with plenty of services; Las Arenas beach, 1,200 metres for you to explore; Pinedo beach, with soft dunes and calm sea; and L'Arbre del Gos beach, which you can visit on your bike if you feel like it.
