From tradition to glamour
Visiting the historic centres of towns such as Mijas, Marbella, Benalmádena, Estepona or Fuengirola reveals shops set in whitewashed houses, on pretty little squares and pedestrianised streets. And there are always plenty of pavement cafés where you can take a break during a pleasant morning’s shopping. The Costa del Sol is also home to one of the most prestigious and exclusive marinas in Spain. This is Puerto Banús, in Marbella, and here you can find leading international brands. Shops here usually have longer hours and many are open every day of the week. For its part, the city of Malaga is the commercial hub of the Costa del Sol, and its main shopping area is on and around the pedestrianised Calle Larios. It offers a total of more than 1,000 shops surrounded by monuments and museums, and is well worth a visit.
