Roda de Berà

Twenty kilometres north of Tarragona is Roda de Berà, a tourist hub on the Costa Daurada, which is dominated by a Roman arch.

Roda de Berà is located in the region of Tarragonès, between Calafell and Torredembarra. Already in Roman times, the enclave was an important communications point since the Via Augusta crossed the town. On this important route stands the town's most emblematic monument, Berà Arch. This impressive triumphal arch is more than 10 metres high and was erected in memory of the Roman consul Lucius Licinius Sura at the beginning of the 2nd century AD, in the time of Emperor Trajan. It is part of the Tarraco Roman complex and was awarded the World Heritage designation by the UNESCO.Roda de Berà is also a very important tourist hub and residential area on the Costa Daurada. As such, it has golden, fine sand beaches, such as Playa Larga or Playa Pelliseta, and modern nautical facilities that allow you to enjoy this sunny sea shore. In this coastal environment you can admire the shrine of the Mare de Déu de Berà and the vestiges of a guard tower.Roc de Sant Gaietà is also a must-see spot, with Andalusian and Arab patios.
