Among the towns that settled along the course of the Upper Tajo river, we have Peralejos de las Truchas, almost at the border with the province of Cuenca.
Among steep cliffs, formed by the course of the Tajo river, we find this town, in the province of Guadalajara. It is an excellent starting point for a journey around the area, either on foot, on a bicycle, or on horseback. Potholing enthusiasts will be able to enjoy their leisure time at the many caves and abysses that are found in this area. At the city centre we find a church that was erected in the 17th century, devoted to Saint Matthew, patron saint of Peralejos, whose holiday is celebrated between the 20th and the 24th of September. Another place of cultural interest is the hermitage of Nuestra Señora de Ribagorda, a medieval temple that was remodelled in the 18th century. On May 20th, the day of the Virgen, a pilgrimage to this town takes place.
