Located in the middle of the coast of Girona, the village of Palafrugell has an additional appeal: the archipelago of Islas Formigues, highly recommended for scuba diving.
The town of Palafrufell offers the visitor three routes: the "Route of Joseph Pla" (a distinguished writer born in the village), which covers the different places in the municipality that are related to his life and work; the "Cork Route", which deals with the cork industry, which has determined the village's evolution and present appearance; and the "Route of the Watchtowers", which visits these constructions that dot the municipality, and date from the 14th century to the 18th. In addition, Palafrugell has the parish church of Sant Martí, whose nave and side-chapels were built in the Flamboyant Gothic style (16th century); and the ancient Rosés House, which preserves its 17th-18th-century façades, and which is the present site of the Municipal Archives, the City Tourist Board, and the Ernest Morató Foundation.
